Forbidden Sounds - I Saw a Postcard

Текст песни
Текст песни: I saw a postcard in a dream last night
A lighthouse standing on a cliff of white
No traffic jams and no neon signs
Just perfect people in perfect lines
I packed my bags and I burned my list
Sold everything I would never miss
Bought a one way ticket to the golden shore
Thought I would leave my ghosts at the door

But the plane landed and the air was sweet
I put my bare feet on the foreign street
For one whole minute I felt brand new
Then the old voice whispered what I always knew

You can chase the horizon until it bends
You can fly to the country where the rainbow ends
But the monster in the mirror packs the same old bags
You can run ten thousand miles but you can't lose your tags

No paradise on the map can fix your head
Because the prison you carry is the one you were fed
The beautiful land is just a postcard lie
You can never run away from yourself no matter how hard you try

I met a local with a broken smile
He said welcome friend to our blessed isle
We have no crime and we have no debt
But every night I lie awake in a cold sweat
He pointed to the mountains painted gold
Said I climbed them young now I feel too old
The same old hunger the same old ache
Just a different palm tree a different lake

I walked to the cliff where the postcard was shot
The view was perfect but my guts were knot
I screamed at the ocean tell me where to go
The ocean whispered back you already know

You can chase the horizon until it bends
You can fly to the country where the rainbow ends
But the monster in the mirror packs the same old bags
You can run ten thousand miles but you can't lose your tags

No paradise on the map can fix your head
Because the prison you carry is the one you were fed
The beautiful land is just a postcard lie
You can never run away from yourself no matter how hard you try

I thought my sorrow was a place not a voice
I thought changing my latitude would change my choice
But the radio static is inside my bones
Every foreign city sounds just like home
The same old shadow the same old fear
Whispering softly in my ear
Wherever you go there you are
You can't outdrive a broken star

You can chase the horizon until it bends
You can fly to the country where the rainbow ends
But the monster in the mirror packs the same old bags
You can run ten thousand miles but you can't lose your tags
No paradise on the map can fix your head
Because the prison you carry is the one you were fed
The beautiful land is just a postcard lie
You can never run away from yourself no matter how hard you try

I arrived last Tuesday
The sun was warm
But the voice was already there
Waiting for me
